Moore im Naturpark

Project “Revitalization of the Ore Mountain Moors”

The moors of the Ore Mountains are natural landscapes with many stories - secretive, shrouded in legend, exciting, and most of all - at risk of disappearing forever.
They are habitats for specially adapted species sure to disappear when environmental conditions change.

Intact moors are chalk full of matter that stores more carbon than is emitted into the atmosphere.

The peat of the moors forms an important buffer against flood peaks - since its capacity for water storage delays the influx of water from heavy precipitation.
